Back to school time has really been keeping me dancing on that fine line between busy and hectic! I’m enjoying my new classes so far and my own girls are enjoying kindergarten, though we are all a little swamped by the new rules and faces and names we are having to memorize and understand.

My short piece on serendipity is in this month’s Urbanite and so far, has garnered me the most in-person comments and compliments! That’s the advantage to being published in local media, I guess! Most of my clips are from national or online venues, so it’s been a pleasant surprise to have friends and co-workers mention the piece to me. I’m hoping it will be a toehold that leads to larger things, because I have always liked their tone and scope over there at The Urbanite and would like to be a contributor in the future.

I’m hoping to get back to some pieces that were in the revision stages when school began, but first I have a round of back-to-school parents’ nights to go to, both as a teacher and a parent!
