Midterms

This week, it’s all about midterms at my school.

It’s about review packets and photocopying and blue books. It’s about scheduling and proctoring and more photocopying. It’s about the horrible amount of grading that is looming ahead of me. It’s about the looks of panic on the faces of teachers and students alike. Have we taught them anything? Have they learned anything? Have we taught them too much? Have they learned nothing? We’re all getting ready, and we’re all afraid that none of us are ready.

Midterms. Sigh.

  1. I skip ‘em. My husband’s school requires them, though.

  2. Ours are required too, believe me! It’s always hard for the 9th graders we have who are coming from schools that don’t do them, so we try to do a lot of guidance and prep in this week before the exams begin next Tuesday.
