Q&A, Part One

I’m trying this as an experiment with being more creative in my approach here, but also because it just seemed fun, and it is summer, after all!

Here’s what you do, all in one comment:

First, fill in the blank:

“Jackie, what is your favorite _______?”

I will reply to every comment you leave.

  1. …. time of day?

    • Evening–I’ve always been a night owl, but can’t stay up till the early hours too much anymore.

  2. guilty pleasure piece of entertainment? (and why)?

    • Has to be a cross between America’s Next Top Model and Gossip Girl (the show, not the books). For music? Britney Spears, for sure. Clearly part of me is a dysfunctional angtsy teenage girl with too much money, a taste for Cheetos and lots of beautiful clothes.

      • Follow-up: how about the indulgence that you really know you shouldn’t take part in (for whatever reason – cost/politics/decorum/health/wellness), but that allure is just too darned appealing to resist?

and a new thread (or not): favorite find at a thrift store, used book/music store and/or garage sale?

….activity when you have an hour (or two) to yourself? Not an errand, something you do for your enjoyment.

    • Reading, always, but also trying new baking recipes, when the weather cooperates.

  4. Gloriane

    … kids book?
    … novel?

    • Kids book: are we talking picture book? I love the Miss Spider books for their lovely artwork, and I have a soft spot for “Ferdinand the Bull.” Otherwise, I’d say the Anne of Green Gables series, hands-down.

Novel–oh, what a tough one. How about a desert island grouping? I’d take all the Harry Potters, Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, House of Mirth, and Gilead, for starters.

  5. …author?

    • How about a top seven: Anne Tyler, Carol Shields, LM Montgomery, JK Rowling, Stephen King, Edith Wharton, Michael Chabon?

      • Also, I need to add Walt Whitman as my favorite poet, by far.

  6. Poem?

    • Jackie, what is your favorite thing to do at night, after the kids are in bed?
