You may have noticed that I’ve been tinkering with the look of my blog recently; I like to switch things up, and one of the reasons I love WordPress so much is their vast collection of free and customizable themes. Official blogging wisdom says your blog should have a consistent “brand” or “image,” preferably connected to your title/niche/etc, but my approach is much more about colors I like and the general “feel” I like the space to have: fresh, calming, welcoming.

I’m really pleased with the one I’ve chosen now–lovely colors, clean look, and the ability to change the header image whenever I choose. The photo I’ve chosen now is one I took last year on a family trip to Longwood Gardens; I had never been before, and now I can’t wait to go back this year! I like the colors here, but also the play of light and shadow, and the sense of texture it has, considering the woven texture of the background as well.
