My favorite! And my friends all swear that it’s the best cookie ever! Recipe by Dreena Burton, Homestyle Chocolate Chip Cookies viveleveganrecipes.blogspot.com/2006/01/homestyle-chocola… (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The Kitchn has two great lists of recipes to know by heart, workhouse time-tested recipes that will make your meal planning and cooking easier. I’ve been working on some of these recipes myself, as I test out new ones and try my hand at meal planning, hoping to increase my stock of “go-to” or “favorite” recipes that I can rely on while feeding us all.
So far I’ve had the most luck with tomato sauce, pizza (found through the Kitchn!), colby-jack biscuits, and chocolate chip cookies, and I’ve got a stock of reliable muffin recipes as well. I’m working on finding my absolute favorite roast chicken recipe, and am very close to perfecting reliable meatball and meatloaf recipes. Finally, I’d like to build my mental file of vegetable sides, beyond the potato-based ones I feel most comfortable with at this point.
What are your “by heart” recipes?
