Hi Aedan! Does your school block Ning websites? I think that might be a good substitute for Facebook-style interaction, if your school allows. As far as student blogs, I have had college students set up their own blogs through WordPress or Blogger–both can be ad-free, but again, I don’t know about your school’s filter. It can be very frustrating to try and be creative and blocked by your own institution–best of luck on that one! As for a lot on the ball, I don’t know how you do it with a third kid! I noticed that you are a fan of Facebook. I am a member of it as well as twitter. Our school has very strict internet usage policies that block all social networking outlets. I find this frustrating because the students are highly motivated by these networks! I want my students to keep an online journal, but am a little unsure as to which one is the easiest and cheapest to use. I tried edublogs, but this seems complicated for my students to handle. Do you have any suggestions for a simple webbased journal that would not be blocked by our school’s filter? Thanks for your great posts! I feel like I know you by reading you. I have three children. My youngest son is seven as just entered the second grade. I know what you mean by summer sleepovers and movie nights! I wish you the best of luck for the upcoming school year. You seem to have a lot on the ball!
